HAJI SELECTED 2nd OVERALL BY SAN JOSE IN MLS SUPERDRAFT

HAMPTON, NH – During the 2019 MLS Superdraft held at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago, IL, the San Jose Earthquakes selected Seacoast United alumnus and Generation Adidas athlete Siad Haji as the 2nd overall pick on Friday afternoon.

Haji, a native of Manchester, NH, is an exciting attacking midfield player who featured for Seacoast United US Soccer Development Academy during the 2015/ 2016. During that time, he was selected for the US Soccer U19 Men’s National team having also represented his country at the U15 and U17 level.

In 2017, Siad played for the Seacoast United Phantoms (NPSL) during the summer between his freshman year at New England College and sophomore year at Virginia Commonwealth University. Haji made a name for himself in the NPSL North Atlantic Conference as a fearless young player and was quite impressive with the ball at his feet.

During his time at VCU, Haji scored seven goals and recorded 18 assists. This past season he was named a TopDrawerSoccer First Team All-American, and named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team. Haji was also named the Atlantic-10 Midfielder of the Year and earned Atlantic-10 First Team honors, which would inevitably see him sign a Generation Adidas contract.

Everyone within the Seacoast United organization wishes him the very best of luck in the MLS.
