Junior Academy 2017/2018 Season Recap

Junior Academy 2017/2018 Season Recap

As we start the Spring season for our Premier teams, Seacoast United Maine’s Junior Academy has concluded in all our locations across the southern part of Maine (Saco, Portland, Topsham and Gorham) with all players seeing an improvement in their soccer skills. This accelerated soccer development program focused on developing players’ technical abilities during 18 training sessions and 8 matches throughout the winter. The Academy’s curriculum saw all 300 players learn and improve their dribbling, passing, defending and shooting skills, and be able to use them in small sided games.

To test the players’ skills in a match situation, the club hosted four “Jamborees” which saw players from the southern locations and Brewer come together to play against each other and show off what they had learned. Coaches instructed players on the correct timing of when to use certain skills such as passing out of the back or dribbling to beat a defender near the opponents’ goal. After watching every player from the first Jamboree to the last, it was evident all players had made vast improvements to their skills and showcased them in these match situations.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the players who participated in the Junior Academy this season as well as our brilliant coaching staff. We hope to see everyone again next season!
