Preparation for New England Premiership Match Day 1

Preparation for New England Premiership Match Day 1

With the New England Premiership (NEP) match day one drawing closer, all Seacoast United Maine’s teams are preparing for their opening games on April 8th. Maine’s Premier teams have been training hard since the beginning of November and attending tournaments throughout the preseason. From the results this past month, it is evident all teams are well prepared for the upcoming NEP schedule.

SUSC 2008-2004 Boys teams played March 17th-18th in the first of two weekends of the 13th Annual Seacoast United Soccer Club Premier Invitational Tournament, held Epping, NH. The preparation of the boys’ teams throughout the winter resulted in 5 finalists with two winning their respective championship matches. Martyn Keen’s 2005 Premier Blue team played the Seacoast United Boys 2005 NPL in the final. After previously facing off in the first match of the weekend that ended in a goalless draw, Maine’s 2005 team came out flying to win 3 – 1.

Ron Graham and his 2007 Premier Blue team clinched their bracket as they beat Seacoast United 2007B Pre-Academy White team in the U11 finals. A great team effort saw them come out with a 2-0 victory against a very talented side.

The following weekend saw our girls compete against teams from across New England in preparation for the upcoming season. The competition was fierce and proved to be a good test for all the Maine girls’ teams leading into match day one. Andrew Pelletier’s 2004 Premier Blue team had the win of the weekend with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Liverpool FC MA Elite 04s.

Seacoast United Maine’s older teams (2003-1999) had a good showing throughout the month with some notable displays at the Seacoast United Spring Showcase and the NEFC Spring Showcase. Both Tim Stanton and Branden Noltkamper led the Premier Blue 99/00 Boys and NPL 00 Girls teams, to the top of their respective brackets at the Seacoast United Spring Showcase. At the NEFC Spring Showcase, Steve Twombly and Adrian Dubois also led the Premier Blue 03 Girls and NPL 99/00 Boys, to the top of their brackets.

Congratulations to all teams who won their respective brackets over the past few weekends. All Seacoast United Maine teams will be looking to make a huge impression during the NEP Spring season, so make sure to check back to see more information throughout the season!
